On August 19, Kehlani brought soul and a new generation of R&B to Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. Fresh off the April 2026 release of her latest album Kehlani, it was no shock to see nearly every seat in the packed venue filled with a stylish fan.
Opening the night was a lineup of artists that warmed up the crowd for the main act. WASEEL kicked off the night with a DJ set, followed by TheARTI$t, Isaia Huron, and Grammy-winner Durand Bernarr.
Wowing the audience with deeply personal lyrics and the head-nodding rhythmics of her most iconic songs “Sober” and “Ghost,” TheARTI$t made a name for herself in Boston. Fans took in the message of the Newark-born singer’s music with closed eyes and open palms, letting themselves be lost in raw emotions her music seemed to pull from them.
Following TheARTI$t, Durand Bernarr opened with “Bloom,” “River,” and “Hello!” off his latest album BERNARR. He brought that classic 2000s feel with a new modern sound. Bodies swayed, drinks were raised, and people danced hand in hand even in the back of the crowd. He created an electric and soulful atmosphere, preparing the audience for Kehlani herself.
When Kehlani later took to the stage, the crowd was ready to belt the lyrics to songs like “Shoulda Never” an “After Hours.” The venue was already electric from her full-body choreography, and she showed the full extent of her abilities and talents to the audience. The night ended with crowd favorite “Folded,” which had lovers and friends alike in each other’s arms. A few tears were shed as the night came to a soulful finish, and it’s clear that Kehlani continues to pave the way for a new generation of R&B fans.
