Shearling delivered a memorable performance at Deep Cuts in Medford, preceded by openers A Monolithic Dome (performing as a duo due to a member’s absence) and touring partner Brother Dragon. A Monolithic Dome’s duo set deployed a twist on the band’s in-your-face cathartic sound, while Brother Dragon’s performance veered softer, mixing synth and textural sounds with intimate guitar and vocals.
Shearling closed out the night with a thrilling headlining set. Few live bands can form as cohesive an experience out of something so sonically dense.The group’s reputation as an incredible live band is deserved, and they are not to be missed if given the chance to see them.
With two excellent releases under their belt (2025’s Motherfucker, I am Both: “Amen” and “Hallelujah”… and July’s surprise release Don’t Look at Me the Way a Dog Might Look at Your Leg) and hints of more to come, Shearling supporters have much to anticipate.
