Welcome to another week of Weekly Wrap-Up, where we fill you in on what’s been going on in the Boston music scene! Last Monday, local group the Ross Livermore Band released their cover of Valerie exclusively with us lucky folk here at Sound of Boston. A lot of artists have covered this song, so the band had to live up to some pretty high expectations, but they successfully made it their own by putting a feel-good, groovy spin to the song. We were blown away with Ross’s soulful rendition of the song and his ability to hit every pitch in this live recording. Following a similar trend of releasing songs on Youtube, Cambridge-native Friendly People recently revealed a live performance of their new song Hello Montana on their channel. The steady drums and catchy guitar riffs paired with the lead singer’s unique vocals truly captured the spirit of this indie-rock band. Last but not least, we are proud to announce that Boston’s Magic Man and their hit song Paris made it to Sirius XM Alt Nation’s Alt 18 Countdown last week. They have come very far since their humble beginnings in 2009 and we are ecstatic to see this band garnering more success over the years. Currently, Magic Man is on tour and will be returning in May for the Boston Calling Music Festival . If you haven’t had a chance to check out their music yet, here’s a recent live recording they did with Firefly Music Festival’s Tree House Sessions: Recent Local Spotlights: The Taxonomists Other New Posts: Grey Season Concert Review Sofar Sounds Boston: February 2014 Selected Sounds: 5 Shows To Look Forward To Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window) 3 Responses Weekly Wrap-Up: 3/10/14 » Sound of Boston March 10, 2014 […] to Weekly Wrap-Up, our newest column that fills you in on what’s been happening lately in the Boston music […] Reply Miikah May 30, 2014 hi SOB (Sound of Boston, ahem) Here to check out Grey Season & Leo*Leo. I went to a show with Tales of Olde (EP release). Cool reviews for Grey but I can’t find anything on Leo*Leo or the members. Are they Boston based? They blew me away – chick drummer has chops and the lead singer was ripping up on ELECTRIC. not singer songwriter types. not tegan & sarah. thanks. Also are you guys in print or just online? Reply Knar Bedian May 30, 2014 They are indeed Boston-based – we’ve been in touch with them so keep an eye out for upcoming coverage! We’re online-only right now.
