Welcome to our newest column, your Spark Notes for the local goings-on during the past week! This past weekend the 3rd annual New England Music Awards took place at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium to recognize and celebrate some of the best musicians around the area. We want to give a big shout out to past Local Spotlight artists for being nominated: Kingsley Flood for “Band of the Year” and their album Battles for “Album of the Year”, Gentlemen Hall for “Band of the Year” and their hit song Sail Into the Sun for “Song of the Year”, and Tall Heights for “Best in State: MA”. We’ve also been really digging local soul-synth duo GoldBloc’s new track Black Gold which dropped earlier this week – definitely a taste of new sound! In other news, we’d like to congratulate Natick-native Stacey Peasley for being featured in the Boston Globe this past week. The social studies teacher-turned-children’s-singer discovered her passion for music and explains why she has decided to dedicate herself to perform for kids.
