The Worcester Palladium welcomed back venue all-time favorite Kamelot as their Dark Asylum tour finally made its way to the historic stage. Openers Frozen Crown and Visions of Atlantis perfectly complemented Kamelot’s power metal and Celtic-inspired sounds, with Visions of Atlantis particularly mobilizing the crowd in their debut on the spacious downstairs stage.
Dating all the way back to August 2011, Kamelot first made a name for themselves on the more intimate upstairs stage within the weathered stone walls of the Palladium. They have since packed the larger downstairs venue on numerous occasions, with fans wrapping around the venue hours in advance to snag a spot close to the barricade. While those fans held it down in the front, families with young kids kept the energy high in the back, bouncing around and not missing a single word of the 19-song setlist. Their knack for intricate stage setups was admired by all, as cathedral walls and a beautiful faux stained glass window displaying the band’s logo visually enhanced their performance.
Served a hearty mix of older fan favorites and tracks off their newest album Dark Asylum, concertgoers did not leave disappointed; Kamelot impressively matched their energy all night with the conclusion of their American tour leg in sight. Beginning with “Ashen World” and ending with a tremendous bang in “Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife),” their set is always worth the night out.
