Boston’s Best Hip-Hop Songs: An Introduction

Which is it, that Boston has no hip-hop scene, or that it hasn’t been discovered yet? The answer depends on who you ask, of course.

While it’s true that as a genre hip-hop is less in Boston’s spotlight than rock or punk, the case that there is no talent in Boston is a weak one. The following 15-song playlist comprises some of the best songs by some of the most talented Boston-based hip-hop acts. In no way is it all-encompassing and could easily be 150 songs. It includes veteran rappers like REKS and Ed O.G., and up-and-coming artists like Bakari J.B. and Viva La Hop, with a couple of instrumental tracks thrown in.

We hope you’ll find a new favorite or rediscover an artist who makes Boston’s hip-hop scene great. If there’s someone you think we should listen to, we’d love to hear from you.

Enjoy:
