Weekly Wrap-Up: 3/25/14

It’s a big day today. Pop-duo Karmin releases their debut album Pulses today, Tuesday, March 25. First known for their YouTube covers (like Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” ) these Berklee School of Music alums have made a name for themselves in the music industry with their chart-topping singles “Brokenhearted” and “Hello”. Their new album has generated a lot of press recently: from interviews with Elle Magazine and David Atlanta to articles in the Boston Herald. In honor of their debut album, Karmin released a Behind the Songs series where the two discussed their creative process for the tracks that are going to be in Pulses. Be sure to show Karmin some love by giving their album a quick listen (it’s free to stream on Amazon until March 24!) and downloading their songs on iTunes or Amazon.

Recently, electro-pop quartet Bearstronaut was featured on Canadian Music Week’s website, where the group discussed the essence of their music and what makes them unique. Bearstronaut will be back in Boston on May 1 to play at the Middle East Upstairs and is heading out to Toronto to perform alongside other acts like M.I.A., Ellie Goulding, The 1975, and City and Colour in this year’s Canadian Music Week Festival.

Earlier this week Boston rapper Riggz Two Nice  released a new mixtape titled “For the Record,” which is available for free download on SoundCloud. His mixtape features 14 original tracks filled with catchy beats and highlights the rapper’s distinctive, strong voice.

One of our favorite Boston-based acts, the soul-synth duo Goldbloc dropped their EP today – it’s free to download and definitely a group to keep an eye on.
