Lucy Dacus is an up-and-coming indie-rock musician from Richmond, VA, who plays The Sinclair on Wednesday, April 11th at 8:15 PM. Bands And the Kids and Adult Mom are opening. We’re giving away two tickets!
The 22 year old dropped out of film school at 19 to pursue a music career. Many music blogs picked her up, and eventually 20 labels courted her. She signed to Matador Records in 2016 because their roster included her good friend Julien Baker, as well as her favorite band, Yo La Tengo.
Dacus’s music stems from her compulsion to document her life and extend it through song, similar to how Renaissance writers attempted to immortalize their muses through poetry. Her most recent album, Historian (2018), explores people’s urge to combat transience through the preservation of stories. She is an artist obsessed with the notion that time is extremely limited and should be used to its full potential.
This giveaway closes Monday, April 9th at 10 PM so get your submission in soon! Fans of Molly Burch and Big Thief don’t want to miss this show.
