Welcome back to the Weekly Wrap-Up! I may not be able to rap like Chance the Rapper, but take a chance on the wrap-up and see how we wrapped-up this week’s musical happenings.
Drum Roll Please…
The Boston Calling daily lineup is here! Boston Calling wowed us this year with an exceptionally killer lineup for the spring’s music festival, which is taking place at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston on May 26-28, 2017. Headliners this year include Chance the Rapper, Mumford & Sons, and Tool, and the lineup also features local artists Buffalo Tom, Cousin Stizz, The Hotelier, Piebald, and Vundabar. If you are like me and want to see every performance but also don’t want to break the bank, a day pass may be more economical then the full 3-day pass. Take a look at who’s playing when and plan your festival experience accordingly. Visit the Boston Calling website to purchase tickets, and don’t miss out on Boston’s biggest music festival!
Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys Donate Wake Up Your Head Proceeds
The renowned Boston-based steampunk group Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys was busy this past month, and the result is delightful. The group completed this year’s RPM Challenge by recording their new album, Wake Up Your Head, in the 28 days of February. Listening to this album, you feel transported to a post-apocalyptic future fantasy world. The tunes on this album are haunting yet charming, and consistent with their previous work, the arrangements are brilliantly sophisticated. “RESIST” features a powerful, politically-motivated message that echoes the title of the album, Wake Up Your Head. The group has committed to donating proceeds from this album to Planned Parenthood, so you can do even more good while supporting local artists!
Submit Your Music to Collective Arts Brewing
If you want to see your album art on a beer label, it is not too late to submit your work to Collective Arts Brewing! The Ontario-based grassroots craft brewer is crossing streams of creativity to combine the creative genius art and music with the craft of brewing tasty beer. Check out their website to learn more about this opportunity. The deadline for submitting art, music, or film has been extended to March 13, 2017. Cheers!
