Time to dust off the Chucks and skinny jeans: Roadrunner, one of the newest music venues in the Boston area, is hosting a lineup straight out of the early 2000’s this Friday. Spearheaded by punk rock band Rise Against, the show also features prominent emo bands The Used and Senses Fail.
Most people remember Rise Against from their single “Prayer of the Refugee,” which graced the U.S. charts back in 2006. Currently, they’re on tour for their ninth studio album, Nowhere Generation, and the group just released an EP just last month. Both offerings cement the band as one of the most consistent bands of their genre.
But Rise Against certainly isn’t the only big draw on this show. In true fever-dream fashion, they will be joined by The Used—promoting a fresh 16-song release—and Senses Fail, who have just released Hell is in Your Head back in July. These bands have undoubtedly aged like fine wine, and both releases could easily pass as being released 10-or-so years ago. Yet their sound is as fresh as ever, clearly building on the foundation their earlier albums laid out.
Let’s face it: now that Warped Tour has kicked the bucket, this is about as close as you can get to Emo Night Boston being performed by live bands. For anyone that’s pictured themselves screaming along to “Calling all Cars” or “Taste of Ink,”, this show is an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.
We’re giving away two tickets with Bowery Boston. Fill out the form below by Thursday evening for a chance to win!
