Lysten Boston is bringing local acts Oompa, Kyle Bent, and Rex Mac to Great Scott on Friday, April 27th at 10 PM. We’re giving away two tickets!
Oompa is a rapper and slam poet “who is forever representing the queer, black, orphaned, hood kids an’ nem.” The MC is using rap as a form of poetic expression and social justice to uplift those without a voice. She is the winner of the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam, and a finalist at the 2017 National Poetry Slam.
Kyle Bent is a 20-year-old Jamaican-born rapper out of Randolph. He started freestyling in third grade, and created a rap duo with a friend in fifth grade. During this time, Bent taught himself audio engineering and recording to create his first records. He has since released a couple of records off indie label Made In The Shade Records.
Rex Mac is a hip-hop artist that effortlessly blends an array of sounds; he describes it as “90s era west coast G Funk” and “Yeezus-esque industrial minimalism.” His latest album, Abloom (2017), explores mental health themes, from depression to self-love.
