Alternative-rock band Mainland plays Middle East Upstairs Thursday, November 16th at 7 PM. We’re giving away two tickets!
The Brooklyn-based three piece is made up of California natives and they take inspiration from both the East and West Coasts. On their EP Outcast (2016), “Beggars” explores the hopefulness of people who move to New York, while “Outcast” examines the surf culture of Santa Cruz.
Their name is inspired by singer Jordan Topf’s mother who moved to Hawaii after marrying a professional surfer, and often spoke of missing the mainland. “It felt fitting for our story and how we met in New York City,” Topf explained in an interview with Golden Boy Press. “There tends to always be a sense of nostalgia and longing in our music whether it be about a place or a person.”
Fans of DREAMERS and Cage the Elephant don’t want to miss this show. This ticket giveaway ends Tuesday, November 14th at 10 PM, so get your submission in soon.
