Local music organization, ZUMIX, is hosting a special show this Friday, 1/27. Local Hip Hop performer, Latrell James, will be collaborating with Oompa at 8:00 PM in East Boston as part of WZMR’s Hip Hop Night. We’ve got two tickets up for grabs for one lucky winner!
You may remember Latrell James from when he stopped by for our Neighborhood Sessions. A staple in Boston’s hip-hop scene for some time, his songs are experimental, bringing his own unique style to every line. He strives “to reach open-minded individuals and people who are not afraid to say exactly how they feel.” Oompa, fellow local hip-hop artist, is also not afraid to say how she feels. She has been described as both a poet and a rapper, and envisions that her songs will speak to “current and future generations of radical, self-loving, freedom-fighting people with marginal identities that the world often tries to silence.”
It is apt that James and Oompa will be performing at ZUMIX, as their music perfectly echoes the organization’s mission. ZUMIX is a local non-profit committed to developing and growing the local community through art. Focusing on youth, specifically, ZUMIX has played a vital role in our community for many years. You do not want to miss out on this intimate, local show!
The giveaway closes Wednesday, January 25th at 10 PM so get your submission in now.
