Canadian five-piece Great Lake Swimmers is coming to the Great Scott on Tuesday, October 3rd, and we’re giving away two tickets!
The band is known for using unconventional recording spaces. In 2014, they recorded Forest of Arms in Ontario’s largest cave system, the Tyendinaga Cavern. They have also recorded music in grain silos, on islands, in historic music venues, castles, and old churches.
Great Lake Swimmers create light folk-rock melodies perfect for melancholic indie films. Their hushed songs hold something back, so the listener enters into a gentle and welcoming cloud of mystery. Their last album, The Wave, The Wake, sees frontman Tony Dekker leaving his comfort zone as he substitutes his usual acoustic guitar for a lute, a flute, an organ, a harp, and a marimba.
This ticket giveaway closes Sunday, October 1st at 10 pm, so get your submission in soon! Fans of J. Tillman and Horse Feathers won’t want to miss out.
