Los Angeles’ ethereal pop sensation Doe Paoro (née Sonia Kreitzer) is playing the Red Room at Cafe 939 on Wednesday, December 12th. We’re giving away two tickets!
Doe Paoro is a self-taught vocalist and pianist who integrates Eastern meditation and Lhamo, a Tibetan form of opera that she learned while traveling the Himalayas, into her music. She pulls influence from ‘60s doo-wop, ‘80s dance pop, R&B, and vintage folk musicians like Leonard Cohen and Carole King. Many compare her vocal style to Amy Winehouse.
Her songs are very personal; she exposes herself fully in her music, and uses it as a way to transcend her trauma and free herself from it. Her latest album, Soft Power, released on Anti Records this year, includes a song “Guilty” that explores her inexplicable guilt after experiencing trauma due to inappropriate behavior from men in the music industry.
This ticket giveaway closes Monday, December 12 at 10 PM, so get your submission in soon! Simply like Sound of Boston on Facebook or follow us on Twitter, and fill out the form below to enter for a chance to win.
