Philadelphia-based indie-rock band The Districts are coming to The Sinclair on Monday, August 7th at 8 PM. We’ve got two tickets up for grabs!
The Districts have been compared to many notable bands, including Modest Mouse, Pixies, and Arcade Fire. In fact, the band opened for The Rolling Stones in 2015. They’ve recently evolved from a folk-tinged indie sound into a more powerful, anthemic rock one, and they experiment heavily with dynamics; they slowly crescendo throughout the verses, continually layering sounds that then culminate in a whisper.
The Districts started out as a high school band in Lititz, PA that mainly played classic rock covers, and eventually began to create original music, successfully operated as a DIY band until they gained the attention of indie label Fat Possum. They released the album A Flourish and a Spoil with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Kurt Vile) in 2015, beckoning widespread attention from the indie-rock scene and landing them on NME’s Ones to Watch List in 2015. Their new album Popular Manipulations comes out August 11th.
This giveaway closes on Saturday, August 5th at 10 PM, so get your submission in soon.
