Amen Dunes play The Sinclair on Sunday, August 26th. We’re giving away two tickets!
The indie-rock band was formed by Damon McMahon in 2006. It started as a collection of improvised songs recorded and produced by McMahon alone in a trailer in upstate New York. Amen Dunes has since evolved to become a three piece that records at Electric Lady Studios and produces their records with Chris Coady, who has also worked with Beach House.
Amen Dunes’ most recent album, Freedom, was critically acclaimed by virtually every big music blog: Pitchfork, NPR, NME, Spin, The Fader. It is a psychedelic indie-folk album reminiscent of Lou Reed. According to their bio, “Freedom is a reflection on growing up, childhood friends who ended up in prison or worse, male identity, McMahon’s father, and his mother, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer at the beginning of recording.”
