Sharon Van Etten – Selected by Knar
The folk-rock harmonies of Sharon Van Etten have gained a lot of critical attention as of late; her 2014 release Are We There made the “best album” lists of the likes of Rolling Stone and NME. With the layered strings and somberness of her new single, “Just Like Blood,” it doesn’t seem like the buzz is going to let up anytime soon. Don’t think of her set as a slow, gloomy start to the weekend; think of it as a transition out of work mode after you leave the office Friday evening.
Tame Impala – Selected by Matt J.
Tame Impala has already put out four incredible singles from their highly anticipated album, Currents, to be released on July 17, 2015. I’m dying to see the crowd groove to “Let it Happen” and to watch the hysteria if they decide to debut another new track just for us.

Krill – Selected by Anna
KRILL KRILL KRILL FOREVER. Krill have become an icon of the Boston music scene, garnering a cult following and leaving juicy, fuzzy, ennui-pumped tracks in their wake. Creating memorable characters in their songs—both real and fictional (see: their song about Steve from Pile, another Boston great)—Krill construct a narrative sprouted from the inside of a jaded indie kid’s head. Krill is love, Krill is life.
Tove Lo – Selected by Jonah
With her breakout hit, “Habits (Stay High),” the Swedish Tove Lo has established herself at the forefront of pop. She combines Adele’s powerful voice with Kesha’s raunchy subject matter and comes out with something completely new. ABBA may be in the past, but the Swedes are back!

TV On The Radio – Selected by Matt M.
TVOTR began crafting their style of soulful indie rock nearly 14 years ago in Brooklyn. Five full-length releases later, the unstoppable duo of Adebimpe and Sitek has garnered attention from the likes of David Bowie, Trent Reznor, and David Byrne. With trombones, strings, and atmospheric synths now layered into the mix, their set should offer up an eclectic mix—a little something for every type of fan at Boston Calling.
Tenacious D – Selected by Jon
It’s Jack Black.
