Halloween may (sadly) fall on a Monday this year, but that just means Boston will be bustling with fall festivities and countless concerts throughout this week and into the weekend. With nearly every bar and club hosting special sets and events for the holiday, the team at Sound of Boston is here yet again to help you sort out your weekend plans! Check out indie-pop act Trails and Ways performing at an art gallery, RY X at the gorgeous ICA performance hall, or sensational Spanish garage-rock girls Hinds at the Middle East Downstairs. These are some concerts you won’t want to miss out on!

Trails and Ways at Out of the Blue Too Art Gallery – Selected by Jon S.
On tour to promote their new album, Own It, California indie pop band Trails and Ways is playing at one of Boston’s funkiest venues—a surprisingly spacious art gallery in the middle of Central Square. The band has a surf-rock vibe, which is perfect for the recent torrential rain.

RY X at ICA -Selected by Knar
Concerts at the ICA are always a nice change from the typical concert venue, but the space will prove an especially fitting setting for RY X. The theater’s floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the harbor, a calming ambiance fitting for the Australian singer-songwriter’s airy falsetto and atmospheric sound. RY X presents a combination of acoustic guitar and electronic synths that fans of Bon Iver, James Vincent McMorrow, and James Blake (who he’s often compared to) will surely enjoy.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong & Strange Machines at The Paradise -Selected by Matt M.
If their name didn’t get your attention, their electro-funk groove certainly will. This Baltimore-based four-piece seems to be in a perpetual state of touring, but for one night this week they will come to roost at The Paradise. Local progressive jam band Strange Machines will warm up the crowd beforehand, so make sure to hit the dance floor early in the night! If you’re looking for a funky pre-Halloween dance party, look no further than ping pong playing pigeons.

Hinds at The Middle East Downstairs -Selected by Matt E.
Hinds might be the most infectious band going right now. Propelled by their youth, these Spanish garage rockers have an uncanny knack for turning out songs that worm their way into your head. Last time they were in Boston, they invited the crowd at Great Scott up on the stage to sing along, so be prepared for a rowdy environment at this show.
