The spring vibes haven’t hit Boston just yet, but all is not lost for March. Here are some shows to get you through the rest of the month:
3/16/14
The Taxonomists at O’ Brien’s Pub – (Selected by Jenna)
Local spotlight The Taxonomists are generating buzz around town for their self-proclaimed “Friday night” pop, and for good reason. With irresistible melodies and the playful vocal trade-off between lead singers Anna Neumann and Alex Handler, their live show won’t disappoint.
3/18/14
HRVRD at Brighton Music Hall – (Selected by Knar)
HRVRD (pronounced Harvard) is an indie rock band from North Carolina that actually has no ties to Harvard. These guys are playing with three other acts — Lydia, Golden Sun, and Fever Charm — in a stacked Tuesday night lineup at Brighton Music Hall.
3/22/14 & 3/23/14
Typhoon at The Sinclair – (Selected by Scotland)
Typhoon crams 11 musicians onto one stage, bringing a combination of indie pop/rock, ska, orchestral folk, and exceptional songwriting to create some of the most dynamic music on the indie scene today. Their first ever performance in Boston back in the fall at Brighton Music Hall was a 2013 highlight, so you won’t want to miss these back-to-back shows at The Sinclair. I’ll be there covering the Saturday show and stomping along with the crowd.
3/25/14
Sam Smith at The Sinclair – (Selected by Jonah)
It only takes one listen of a Sam Smith track to realize that this young Brit has the voice of an angel. After breaking out thanks to a feature on Disclosure’s “Latch,” Smith and his powerful falsetto have begun to take over the airwaves with his inspirational anthem, “Money On My Mind.” As you can see here, his voice will completely entrance any soul in the audience. A review of the show is coming soon.
