Attendees of all ages descended upon Fort Adams State Park for the annual Newport Folk Festival, returning to full capacity for the first time since 2019. The first day of the festival welcomed returning artists such as blues legend Taj Mahal as well as newcomers like John Craigie. Also debuting this year, the “Bike Stage”—a smaller outer stage powered by solar panels and five stationary bikes pedaled by festival-goers—showcased intimate performances throughout the weekend, including one by Langhorne Slim, who brought onstage a couple that had gotten married earlier that morning.
