Stephen Lee Bruner, better known by his stage name Thundercat, delivered an electric performance at House of Blues on Sunday night for the first of two sold-out shows in Boston. Opener Channel Tres got the crowd moving, stepping out from behind his DJ table to dance across the stage, sparkling with body glitter. Adorned with iridescent crystals, Thundercat mesmerized the crowd with epic guitar solos and hits from his latest genre-defying album It Is What it Is, pausing for interludes to pay homage to his wide-ranging musical and cultural influences including Louis Cole, Cowboy Bebop, and George Duke.
