Tonight, via an elaborate scavenger hunt through the city, Boston Calling has announced the lineup for their third festival. The event will take place in City Hall Plaza from May 23-25, including Friday evening performances for the first time.
Headlining the festival are Jack Johnson on Friday, Death Cab For Cutie on Saturday, Modest Mouse on Sunday, and one act yet to be announced. While these are all strong headliners, it seems odd that none of them are very current acts. While Jack Johnson and Death Cab For Cutie have released music in the past few years, their career peaks are undoubtedly behind them. Luckily, the rest of the lineup is chock full of young talent!
Rounding out the lineup are Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Brand New, The Head & The Heart, Tegan & Sara, Bastille, Jenny Lewis, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, The Neighbourhood, Phosphorescent, Built To Spill, Kurt Vile, Walk Off The Earth, Warpaint, Cass McCombs, The Districts, Maximo Park, Tigerman Woah!, and Magic Man.
The day-by-day lineup is now available here.
Early bird tickets have sold out, but specially priced pre-sale tickets go on sale here starting January 29th at 10AM, and general tickets will be available here starting January 31st at 10AM.
Update: The final act for Saturday is The Decemberists.
Update: Set times are announced.
