Selected Sounds: 5 Concerts to Catch Across Boston

Though the Greater Boston area continues to thaw, the local music scene is still thriving with a nearly endless selection of concerts every week. We’ve teamed up once again to give you our Selected Sounds, a listing of the shows we’re most excited for in the coming weeks. This time around, we’ve featured a special show at Thunder Road curated by Sound of Boston as a part of Murdock Manor‘s Stripped Sets concert series. You can purchase tickets here or visit the Facebook event for more information and updates!

Metric at The Orpheum Theater – Selected by Matt J.

Metric and Joywave takeover the Orpheum on Thursday. Not sure why Emily Haines tried to write a country-pop song (see video) for their newest album but, I’m sure as heck excited to see them play their old tunes. It’s too bad about the Orpheum’s permanent seats, these bands could really get a crowd moving if they had the space ta boogie-woogie.

The New Deal at The Sinclair – Selected by Josh S.

Following the release of their brand new EP “Mercury Switch,” The New Deal are bringing their energetic live electronic show to The Sinclair. The show is on a Wednesday – but don’t let that deter you. Be prepared to dance your ass off and have your face melted by these incredibly talented musicians.

Intervals with Angel Vivaldi at Brighton Music Hall – Selected by Matt M.

It’s tough to make it as an instrumental band these days, unless you’re incredibly gifted. Luckily for Canadian band Intervals, they’ve got the magic touch. From progressive metal to mellow jazz rock, the band’s genre-hopping newest release The Shape of Colour might be their best so far. Two up and coming solo shredders Angel Vivaldi and Plini will also be on the bill showing off their superhuman guitar skills.

Lucius at Royale – Selected by Araz

I saw Lucius two summers ago and they’ve only gotten cooler since. Their sound is more established, they are electric on stage, and ladies Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig still twin it up. It’s a visual and auditory treat to see Lucius, so hopefully you bought your tickets, because it’s sold out. Cue frowns faces.
