Weekly Wrap-Up: 6/26/17

Welcome back to the Weekly Wrap-Up! Summer is in full swing and, for many of Boston’s residents, that means school is out. Look no further than the Wrap-Up to fill your splendidly lackadaisical days with musical festivities. Personally, I enjoyed a lunch break stroll through the Common last Wednesday, June 21st to catch a number of local artists participating in Make Music Boston, a live and free music event which happened all over town. Music is certainly in the air!

Neighborhood Night Series at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is welcoming museum-goers free of charge for three nights this summer. On July 13, July 27, and August 10 beginning at 5 p.m., everyone is invited for an evening of live music, art, and horticulture projects. Catch bassist Jeff Jones, Gregory Groover Jr. Quartet, and more. This is one of many free musical events happening in Boston this summer. Check out the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum event calendar for more details!

Submit Your Favorite New Musician to NPR

As we near the halfway mark of 2017, NPR is checking in with its listeners to see who digging so far this year. NPR’s All Songs Considered released a form last week for anyone to submit their favorite new artist. Boston-based folk trio Honeysuckle made the list this time last year! Help amplify the voice of your favorite, new local artist by visiting the All Songs Considered website and filling out the short form.

Belmont Savings Bank Battle of the Bands

Young artists will be in the spotlight on August 9 at the Battle of the Bands sponsored by Belmont Savings Bank. The fourth annual event welcomes middle school and high school bands from local communities to perform at Payson Park in Belmont. A video of each band will be posted to the Facebook page in advance of the concert. The video with the most likes will win “Favorite on Facebook” award. The winning band at the event will receive a $250 grand prize. Any interested band should contact marketing@belmontsavings.com.
