Local promotor Lysten Boston is bringing Ed Balloon, Roxbury’s genre-blending musician, to the Great Scott stage on Friday, March 16th at 10 PM. We’re giving away a pair of tickets!
While studying law at Brandeis University, Ed Balloon decided to pursue music. His friends and family doubted his musical ambitions because of his deep voice and Nigerian accent, but he set out to find his own place in the music scene in Boston and beyond. As a result, his main attitude is one of transcendence; “I’m like a balloon. I float over b.s.,” reads his Bandcamp bio.
While his music mainly pulls from R&B, Ed Balloon finds influence from many different genres. As a result, he is labeled as everything from alternative R&B to glam pop and electro soul. However, he refuses to slap a genre label onto his music.
