Lil Debbie at The Middle East Upstairs – Selected by Caroline

Lil Debbie is sure to deliver a show as over-the-top and entertaining as she is. Ever since the disbanding of her hip-hop group, the “White Girl Mob” (R.I.P)  featuring V-Nasty and Kreayshawn, Debbie has made a name for herself. Her most recent EP California Sweetheart features the hit “Slot Machine,” and the video for her single “Ratchets” is rumored to have inspired Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” video. I’m also very optimistic that Riff Raff could make a guest appearance at the show, as he’s featured on a number of her songs and totally does stuff like that.

The Presidents of the United States of America at Paradise Rock Club – Selected by Matt

PUSA first gained popularity in the mid 90’s with songs about peaches and lumps, and are probably best known for their cover of “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Using their custom-made hybrid instruments, the bassitar and guitbass, PUSA will take you on a zany trip through nostalgic alt-rock bliss.

Gregg Allman Band at the Newport Yachting Center – Selected by Zoë

The Allman Brothers Band was a rock/blues group popular through the 1970’s. If you’re old enough to remember some of their hits (or young enough that your parents played them), such as “Ramblin’ Man,” you’ll be excited to hear that Gregg Allman and his band are coming to town this month. Allman’s classic sound is one for the ages — you don’t want to miss it.

STL GLD (Moe Pope & The Arcitype) at Brighton Music Hall – Selected by Jon

Hip hop in Boston is alive and well. Two-time defending Boston Music Award winner Moe Pope will celebrate the release of his album My Monday Morning Music with a bash at Brighton Music Hall. Teaming up with producer The Arcitype, the duo —going by STL GLD — will present a collection of songs that ranges from synth-and-string-spun beats to simple, old-school hits. Listen to the first track off the duo’s album, “Sunrise,” here.
