With Boston Calling announcing their impressive spring lineup last month, 2017 is already shaping up to be another promising year for live music in the city. Moon Tooth and Astronoid at Great Scott – Selected by Tyler
Moon Tooth is an east coast band that manage to combine Mastodon-style southern metal with incredible melodic vocals. They have a fine-tuned blend of genres with some epic lyrics about man vs nature and have been known to put on unforgettable live shows. Astronoid is a local band that has attracted attention for their happy, atmospheric post-rock. It’s like Deafheaven, but with even more major keys.

Priests at Great Scott -Selected by Matt E.
D.C. punks Priests have slowly been building hype since releasing a well-received EP in 2014. Their first full-length effort Nothing Feels Natural proves that all of the hype was worth it. Katie Alice Greer’s sing-song, stream-of-consciousness vocals are transfixing, especially when paired with hypnotic surf-punk sounds. A sense of urgency propels the album from beginning to end, giving you barely any time to catch your breath. Pair Priests’ gritty and evocative sound with the tight quarters of Great Scott and you’ve got yourself a show not to miss.

Allison Crutchfield & The Fizz at Great Scott -Selected by Matt M.
Allison Crutchfield originally appeared behind the drum kit for lo-fi indie rock outfit P.S. Eliot alongside her twin sister Katie on guitar and vocals. Since they went their separate ways both sisters have continued to evolve their sound in a number of different solo projects and collaborations. Last week, Allison released her first proper solo record Tourist In This Town, marking a sonic shift away from her pop-punk band Swearin’ to a more synth-heavy power pop sound. With gorgeous, ethereal vocals and captivating lyrics, Crutchfield & The Fizz promises to be the perfect Tuesday escape.
